Melissa is originally from Waterford, Pennsylvania and completed her undergraduate education at Penn State University as she earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. She went on to graduate from Slippery Rock University with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2005. Melissa moved back to the Centre County region after spending 13 years in Arizona practicing physical therapy. In her career, Melissa has worked with patients in the outpatient setting with complex postural deficits, spine and musculoskeletal conditions and chronic pain. She has specialized training in treating patients with cancer. She is also a Cancer Exercise Specialist, a Pink Ribbon Program instructor and has developed and implemented a Cancer Recovery Program. Melissa has been a PMA Certified Pilates Instructor since 2013 which allows her to integrate Pilates based exercises into her rehabilitation programs. Melissa is also a Certified Kinesiotaping Practitioner, Myofascial Cupping practitioner and is Graston technique trained allowing her to add these techniques when treating her clients. Melissa also has extensive training in myofascial release (MFR), Associative Awareness Technique (AAT), Postural Restoration Institute (PRI) and vestibular conditions.

 

Outside of her career as a Physical Therapist, Melissa is an avid baker, enjoys watching Premier League soccer, hiking and practicing Pilates. She loves to travel and is always planning another international trip.
